"when it rain, it pours..."

recently, we've had mad rain down in florida... so, our imam, shaykh monir, had combined the prayers (i.e. dhuhr & `asr or maghrib & `isha) at the masjid. there is khilaf among the `ulama with regard to this issue, as to the severity of the rain for this rukhsah/concession to be allowed. there's an opinion that states that the rain has to be severe that it may endanger one's life. there's another opinion that says that as long as the rain is hard enough to make clothing wet - if one was to step outside in the rain, the clothing will easily get wet. but then again, the khilaf among the `ulama itself is rahmah for the ummah. just wanted to share some info... do read more here.

*i'd like to have somebody pose this question to shaykh mokhtar, if possible, with regard to the rukhsah of combining the salaah during rain... can i get a volunteer, or do i have to ask somebody? hm... ;)

i have not experience for the raining one, but here in troy with imam djajer and imam mokhtar's present, we did combine the prayer when the day is heavily snow... very heavy one... and as what i remember, the condition is that, it is very difficult condition for driving if you are planning to come back for the next prayer (for example... you came for maghrib and planning to come for isya') this is what i remember what imam djafer/mokhtar told me... the important thing is that you plan to come for the second prayer...
i'm not sure whether i'm right or not... insha allah, jawad or myself will check it for you...
